Peripherals
In terms of computer bits and pieces, a "Peripheral" is a device or unit that operates separately to, or on the periphery of a PC, but is connected to it. With this definition in mind we can safely assume that almost everything, apart from the PC itself (and all of it's components and software) is a peripheral. The most common of these peripherals are listed below:
Mouse - Everyone is familiar with the term mouse! A mouse is an input device used to control the cursor that's used in most Operating Systems.
Keyboard - As with the mouse, the keyboard is an input device that everyone the world over is familiar with. Before the invention of the mouse and the Graphical User Interface (GUI) the keyboard was the only way to navigate your way "through" your PC. Thankfully those days are over, and the likes of Microsoft incorporate a cursor into their operating systems making navigation and control over the PC much simpler.
Printers - Printers come in many various combinations, but a basic printer will take a document, be it a picture or a word processed document from your PC and turn it into a hard copy, printed on paper. Other types of printer include but are not limited to the Combo which includes other features such as a fax machine and scanner.
